A film review by Jamie Richardson

It’s an everyday occurrence to have a conversation with a friend, a work colleague or even a stranger. When your job is to talk with people in-depth and even someone with a deranged mind the conversation becomes unsettling, to say the least! I take my hat off to those who have chosen this profession, in the case of Julia Varvara’s live-action short film SUPPRESSION the psychiatrist is played by veteran British actor Gary Beadle (Grantchester, Matchmakers, EastEnders).
SUPPRESSION might be short, but it packs a punch! This intense film parallels the realms of Silence of the Lambs. The low light and close camera shots allow the viewer to focus on the characters, like a dance of the moth with a candle flame.

The script is razor sharp and both Adam Morse and Gary Beadle deliver with professional finesse that few can equal.

Adam Morse is truly at another level, transcending his sight disability with poise and elegance. My heart melted, knowing that such a fine and capable actor could not see his work but could only visualise in his mind; oh, the things we take for granted!!
Ukrainian-British producer and actress Julia Varvara’s directorial debut has certainly caught the attention of the showbiz world and will no doubt go a long way in cementing a successful career for this talented new director.
