OSCAR SHORT FILM REVIEW – GOODNIGHT HENRY: Starring Joseph Marcell from Fresh Prince of BelAir

Joseph Marcell who played the butler in Fresh Prince of BelAir; plays the role of butler Mr. Pageant, an actor of extraordinary talent, his comedic deadpan delivery of dialogue has been copied by many and has yet to be equalled.

The script written by Isher Sahota superbly complements the film; it gives the actors the freedom to really come out in this period drama. Rosalind, played by Sharon Rooney and the French ambassador, played by Ryan Gage take full advantage of this and their performances further lift the film to its true comic genius, even the prime minister partly lying dead over a table with his trousers fully down completes the Victorian setting to a tee.

The script is worthy of mention because it was the platform that allowed the actors their excellent performances. In short, it brought together character, want, needs, plot, structure, conflict and resolution with finesse and genius.

Cinematography by Adam Singodia, music by Darryl O’Donovan authenticates the drama taking the viewer back in time to the golden era of Victorian Britain.

The whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable viewing, and I would strongly recommend that Isher Sahota and Jamie Macdonald seriously consider making this into a feature.
