OSCAR SPOTLIGHT: Oscar Shortlisted Red White and Blue directed by Nazrin Choudhury starring Brittany Snow

Nazrin Choudhury’s choice of a highly controversial and delicate subject for her directorial debut must be lauded; the question of who will bear the consequence of politicians dictating a woman’s right to reproduction is summed up extremely well by Shakespeare “Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown!!”

It would be better to let the film do the talking as it highlights many incidents and interactions that impact already fragile lives, the underlying theme, and what it means to live in a country with some of the strictest anti-abortion laws in the world.

The cinematography is shot in a very pale and grey colour that does justice to the topic and the storyline that ensues.

A compelling script that encapsulates the topic very well into a worthy and worthwhile short film. A job well done, by Nazrin Choudhury. Wishing them the best of luck for the Oscars.
