1. How did you find the experience of Producing a film which you wrote and starred in too?
I felt I was doing a meaningful work and creating a film from scratch with everyone was very rewarding. I loved the business side of moviemaking and the challenge to work with a very limited budget. The writing was an enjoyable process for me, as a child I always loved reading and writing, so it felt natural. Acting was awesome, I was so pumped by the end of the week and not feeling tired. Acting gives me energy, it’s a liberating feeling.

2. How challenging was it to Direct yourself in the film?
It was challenging at times for sure, to not have the feedback. But I tried to stay connected to what the character was going trough. I knew Sarah from within, I trusted that the experiences I felt while growing up in Morocco will resurface through Sarah.

3. Where did the inspiration come from to write the story?
I grew up In Casablanca, Morocco where abortion is illegal and tabou. I use to hear women whispering that word. I have lived in the US for about 15 years and when I saw the overturn of Roe vs. Wade on June 24th 2022, it triggered my past. I felt an urge to tell a human story to adress this political issue we are facing around the world.

4. How did you react to hearing that Interruption had qualified for Academy Award consideration?
Oh my god, it’s a wonderful news. I’m very happy for the film and everyone who worked on it. It’s been a journey! I’m so grateful.
5. What have you got planned next?
Right now I’m looking for an agent and I’m writing my next feature film which will be shot in the United States.
