***** TRIBECA 2023 – THE SPERM BANK is a clever comedy that touches on a serious issue

The Sperm Bank was written and created by Rob Scerbo and Jeremy Culhane. This incredible short was actually based on the writer and star Rob Scerbo’s real life experiences as he was diagnosed with stage 4 testicular cancer. 

Rob Scerbo’s brilliant comedic timing is displayed in this important film as he stars as a young man with cancer. Rob visits a sperm bank with two of his friends in tow and finds the deed much harder to do than planned. Sophia Ali stars as the clinics vibrant Nurse Kilby (Sophia Ali).

Whilst “The Sperm Bank” touches on a difficult issue, though comedy we are left to ponder not only what would we do if we were in the same situation but feel a whole host of emotions as we see a young man going through something that no-one ever should!

It is not surprising that Director Margaux Susi is also an actress, as she brings out mesmerizing performances from the all star cast which includes Jeremy Culhane (Heathers, Yes Day), Aman Adumer (Grown-ish) Sophia Ali (Grey’s Anatomy, Uncharted) and Parvesh Cheena (The Mandalorian). 

It is not surprising that Director Margaux Susi is also an actress, as she brings out mesmerizing performances from the all star cast .

This comedy short was produced by Grayson Propst (Netflix’s Glow, HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm) alongside Angela Giarratana (Hulu’s Minx, ABC’s Call You Mother). The stunning cinematography was shot by the Emmy Award winning director of photography Jack Schurman and executive produced by Andrew Carlberg who has led Oscar winning and nominated films.

“The Sperm Bank” is a gem of a film that should be on your watch list!
